Southern California

The Spoon Collectors of Southern California, SCSC, was founded in 1974 by Bill Boyd, sponsor of The Spooners Forum. Bill moved to the Midwest in 1980, but the club continues to flourish actively promoting the hobby of souvenir spoon collecting. The SCSC is a fully participating member of the National Liaison Committee that meets annually at the yearly convention. The committee promotes the souvenir spoon collecting hobby and coordinates the convention schedule. They also sponsor a national reference library for spoon collectors. Member clubs fund the activities of the committee. Spoon auctions are one of the activities at the national convention. Anyone who is a member of a spoon club may participate in these auctions.

SCSC sponsored the 2002 national convention. We will also sponsor the 2008 "Sun Sand Surf Spoons" Spooners Convention. The convention will be held September 10 through 13 in San Diego at the Town & Country Resort. The hotel's website is http://www.towncountry.com. To attend the convention you must be a member of a spoon club.

Since 1990, the SCSC has published a quarterly newsletter. Many spoon collectors from around the country join the SCSC to get the newsletter, even though they live too far away to attend the meetings. The club holds bi-monthly luncheon meetings. Each meeting has a souvenir spoon theme and is either held in a restaurant or as a potluck in a member's home. The meetings planned for 2008 are shown in the calendar below.
