Useful Links for Spoon Collectors
Here are some links that I frequently use when researching
souvenir spoons, plus a few odds and ends. They might help you, too.

Biography.com provides very concise biographical sketches of many historical figures. Often, the brief information provided is enough to provide clues for further research.

Maine Antiques Digest. Articles, dealers directory, calendar of shows & auctions in the Northeast.

National Park Service Links to the Past provides detailed text and many pictures of monuments, parks, and historical areas under NPS jurisdiction. Take a look around this one even if you have no immediate burning research questions; you'll be glad you did. This site might be temporarily broken due to political problems, but it is worth finding once they restore service.

50 States provides much information and a wealth of links to repositories of state and city information. Try it, you'll like it.

Libraryspot.com Here's a well-organized page with links to just about every dictionary, encyclopedia, library, newspaper, almanac and other research resource that you could dream of. Want to convert grams to ounces? Do it here. If you bookmark just one link for research, make it this one.

Geography.about.com Do you have a question about maps, places, mountains, rivers, and so forth? Here's where to get the answers.

Meta-search engines to easily query hundreds of search engines at once. savvy.search.com and webcrawler.com. Why spend a lot of time trying different search engines and web directory sites; do it all with one visit to one of these sites.

Anti-virus tools. Two of the biggest and most experienced are McAfee and Norton. Try one of these sites to scan your computer right now, using the latest virus definitions, and to see their product offerings. There are other sites such as PandaSoftware which you might prefer.

Copyrights. Check out the sometimes confusing laws pertaining to intellectual property. They are explained here in simple language by the U. S. Copyright Agency of the Library of Congress.
